3 Ways to Have Faith-Based Spiritual Discernment - Digital Community

“I pray that your love will keep on growing and you will fully know and understand 10 how to make the right choices. Then you will still be pure and innocent when Christ returns. And until that day, 11 Jesus Christ will keep you busy doing good deeds that bring glory and praise to God.” Philippians1:9-11

Good discernment is the ability to discern truth from falsehood and having a sound mind to overcome evil thoughts. Discernment is something we learn and earn when we live in the Word. It allows us to see beyond what's on the surface and understand the motives behind every person, situation, or action—an essential element of wisdom. There are 3 ways to discern that you are "doing good deeds."

1. The Role of Scripture in the Discernment Process

When we follow God's word, we eventually learn to differentiate between right and wrong, ultimately becoming the purpose of the discernment process. That's why ............

having a deeper understanding of scripture is equally important in our daily lives. We make decisions daily, which leads to where we will find ourselves in the coming days, months, and years. Discernment will get us closer to God. It is an essential quality to be able to distinguish between how we, as worldly people, act, think, and make decisions and if what we're doing is coming from the voice of God, so we can recognize when something feels right and when something feels wrong. As we gain a deeper understanding of scripture, we can learn to recognize God's will and make decisions that align with it. We can begin to recognize the difference between what our world tells us to do and what God would have us do, allowing us to make decisions closer to God's will.

2. Repeatable Actions

The Bible says in James 3:13-18, “Are any of you wise or sensible? Then show it by living right and being humble and wise in everything you do. But the wisdom that comes from above leads us to be pure, friendly, gentle, sensible, kind, helpful, genuine, and sincere. When peacemakers plant seeds of peace, they will harvest justice.” Live a life based on Biblical moral values and avoid harmful behavior. God wants you to have a strong sense of self-respect and self-confidence. By having good moral values, He allows you to form strong relationships with others and develop a strong sense of community, guiding you in making decisions that can lead to more positive outcomes. "Always take the high moral ground" is what they say, and doing the right thing is always the best choice. Showing compassion and understanding for others, regardless of their differences, is the foundation of a solid moral compass. Living that life will naturally bring peace and joy to you and those around you. Isn't that a wonderful thing? Living with purpose and not stepping on anybody else's toes?

3. Prayer Will Always Help

Prayer can help us to stay humble and focused on God's will rather than our own. Seeking God's wisdom through prayer can also be helpful in the discernment process. Praying allows......

God to enter our hearts and guide us in making decisions. Don't hesitate to use prayer to ask for clarity and understanding in decision-making. We need discernment in a world that calls evil good and good evil. If worldly things dominate you, you’ll reach a crossroads and possibly be confused with your true identity and purpose. The good news is God is not the author of confusion. We must keep our minds on the Word of God, repeat past successes, and pray for consistent spiritual discernment. Have the courage to choose righteousness and choose the unpopular route, and you can go forth boldly and make decisions confidently. Remember, at the end of the day, you have everything you need in Jesus Christ!
