Updated: Feb 8, 2023

It's finally happening!

It has been five years in the making, and I am forever grateful to Tamika and the kids for their sacrifice and support during the last five years. They supported me while I was discerning the call to start a virtual church and preparing by attending Seminary at Fuller University and engaging in mentorships and various informal training. I am also grateful for Tamika, our family, and the prayer team's support in getting us to this pivotal point in our journey. We spent the last 5 years understanding the challenges of having a Christian community display diverse Unity. We spent the last year researching and trying different techniques, approaches, and technology that could be used to address the challenges of displaying a diverse, unified body of Jesus. To share the good news of Jesus through displaying a diverse, unified body of Jesus Christ. and believe it is time to start the 12-month countdown to launch. It is time to share this vision with as many people as possible. We will begin on February 5, 2023, from 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm EST. In this live event, we will start the 12-month countdown to the public launch of United Community Church in February 2024. You, your friends, family, and acquaintances are invited to hear more about the start of the church and what role God wants you to have in starting the United Community Church.

Can God Use Me?

God wants you to use your spiritual gifts, experiences, difference, treasures, and time to share the love of Jesus. But you may need to know where to begin. The first step is to ask questions, the next step is to search for answers, and the third step is to respond by using what God has given you to follow him.

Ask questions

I was at a conference five years ago, learning about the Bible and Justice ministry. During one session, I felt the call to pastor a multicultural church that would give the world a glimpse into God's diverse Kingdom. For the next three years, I continued asking God what seemed like a million questions, "how can we overcome the challenges of disunity?" "Do I pastor an existing church or start something new?" "will my disabilities stand in the way?" The Bible tells us that God answers us through the Holy Spirit, people, the Bible, and creation.

Searching for the answers

For the next three years, I kept asking questions and seeking answers by praying, attending Seminary and training, listening to books, and receiving counsel from friends and mentors. God would show me small steps to take, but I still had many questions. Then God spoke to me through John 17:20-26. In the Bible passage, Jesus tells us that by our Unity, the world would know that God sent Jesus, that Jesus sent us. Jesus said our Unity is the evidence that the message we share that we can receive salvation and hope through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus is true. God used John 17:20-26 to clarify the mission of the church we would start. This church community would display His diverse, unified family as evidence that the Good news of Jesus we would share is true.

Use what God has given.

God wants everyone to use the spiritual gifts, experiences, different abilities, treasures, and time He has given you to share the hope and love of Jesus. Ephesians 4:9-10 tells us that we are to use everything we are given to serve and prepare each other for the work of the ministry. As a result, each and every person can experience the full extent of the hope and love of Jesus. God has called me to use the spiritual gifts of preaching, teaching, and pastoring to prepare others for the work of the ministry. God uses my disabilities to show others that He will take what you have and use it to share the love and hope of Jesus. God has used my 10+ years of experience in technology and ministry to meet the challenges of disunity head-on. God uses and multiplies our family's financial gifts to prepare for this work. God uses the time I have spent serving and training to equip others for the work of the ministry. God uses everything I have so that everyone can experience the full extent of the hope and love of Jesus.

What does God want you to do?

God wants you to use your spiritual gifts, experiences, different abilities, treasures, and time to share the love of Jesus. So start asking questions, searching for answers, and using what God has given you. But remember, it is a journey, and you are not alone. United Community Church would love to help you determine what questions to ask and where to find answers. We would consider it a privilege to help you understand what God has given you so that everyone can experience the full extent of the hope and love of Jesus.
